Emma Tustin, the child killer, has been confirmed not to have been executed in prison.After social media rumors circulated claiming that Arthur LabinjoHughes’ killer had been attacked and murdered by another prisoner, the story gained momentum. Facebook posts earlier this week claimed that Tustin (32), was jailed for 29 for the murder her stepson Arthur.The links to these posts now state: “False Information.” Independent fact-checkers verified the authenticity of the links.
One Facebook post stated that Emma Tustin was found dead in her cell following an attack by a prisoner and wing cleaner. Reports suggest that she was stabbed more than 20 times using a [sic] homemade prison blade.
The rumours were rebutted by the Reuters Fact Check team.It stated: “Emma Tustin is alive and well. She was convicted in Britain of killing her six-year old stepson Arthur LabinjoHughes. The claims that she died in British prison are false.”
“The false claim spread quickly across social media.
“Tustin is currently imprisoned at HMP Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.
“Since then social media posts have claimed that the 32-year old was murdered by a fellow inmate.
“However, Sodexo, the owner of HMP Peterborough, said to Reuters that this was false.”
Reuters said that it wasn’t the first time that a false claim about Tustin’s wellbeing was circulated.
It stated that she was falsely claimed by Facebook users earlier in the month that she was admitted to hospital after being made to eat salt packets.On December 3, at Coventry Crown Court, Tustin was sentenced for a minimum of 29 year imprisonment.
Thomas Hughes, Arthur’s father and partner, was sentenced for 21 years for manslaughter.It has been revealed that the sentences of murderers will be reviewed.Arthur sustained a permanent brain injury that was not easily treatable while under the care of Tustin, his father’s partner.On June 16, 2020, Tustin was convicted for murdering Arthur by attacking her in the hallway at her Cranmore Road house in Solihull.Arthur, whose body was also covered with 130 bruises, passed away in hospital the following day.
