Kate Garraway has issued an update on the condition of her husband as he fights illness. Kate Garraway, the Good Morning Britain presenter gave an update on her husband Derek Draper who is currently in hospital receiving treatment for sepsis. The former lobbyist for the political party, who is now 55, has been suffering from a variety of health issues since being diagnosed with Covid-19 in March of 2020 which led to him spending several months in the hospital. Kate has been candid with her fans about her husband’s health issues while he fights the effects of the disease.
This year, she announced that Derek had mobility and communication issues, but she was trying new methods to build a relationship to her husband. But in the summer, Kate has been forced to withdraw from one of her shows after Derek became “seriously sick” and later discovered that he was suffering from sepsis.
The Mirror says that Kate has admitted that there had an interruption in Derek’s recovery and that Derek has been in the hospital. Kate said: “Derek is back in hospital after suffering from sepsis which has once again put him in danger and we’re trying to bring him home.”
Caregiving is a profession that she enjoyed she wrote in The Sun : “We all applauded carers with passion in the midst of the epidemic because they saved lives in front of us however the problem is that once the direct fear of dying or living goes away, the celebration is quickly forgotten, while the caring continues. It’s not something you see in movies such as rescuing someone from the flames or putting mouth the mouth of a person, however it’s not less essential to living.”
The presenter also spoke about her feelings of being “frustrated with depression, emotional and depressed” taking care of Derek and desperate “wants Derek to live”. She recently gave intimate details about her marriage and life through her ITV documentary “Finding Derek” which revealed how her family’s lifestyle has changed in the past two years.
When she spoke to the camera, she told the camera: “In the documentary, you watched me as frustrated and depressed. I was also emotional, sad, and angry. And I’ve been all these and more in the last months, weeks and even. Since that’s what happens when you’re caring for someone else, you would like it to last because you want them to live and be in your life, so that you can take care of them, but there’s not any endpoint, and it can’t become any simpler.”
