Strictly Come Dancing’s actor John Whaite speaks about his win in the third season. The 33-year-old who was brought to public’s attention when he appeared on the baking competition, says it “derailed” in his personal life. It also led him to drinking alcohol.
On GBBO, John beat off competitors from the finalist Brendan Lynch and James Morton. Since the competition and continuing to appear on TV and was runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing last year alongside pro dancer Johannes Radebe.
John shared his regrets of his appearance on GBBO. John said: “Some days I’d wish I hadn’t been on the show because, in reality, it completely took me off my life track. I was drinking more than I ought to have and was unwise to Instagram as well as Twitter. If I had known the information I do now, would I repeat the same thing over again? Absolutely. However, I’d think about it differently.”
