One depraved undertaker called dead bodies ‘fit’ and invited another man along to the mortuary to have sexual activity with a corpse. Kim Whittlestone, the prosecutor, said that Robinson-Wright talked to paedophiles, animal sex abusers, and anyone with an interest using encrypted, military-grade chatrooms. He was a sex predator and sexually abused a puppy. He also arranged to meet a paedophile offering a child to be raped.
Police lifted the lid on Robinson Wright’s dark sexual world after he was arrested in September 2021 for being a paedophile. They had been communicating online and they met at the funeral director. On November 1, 2021, officers visited Robinson Wright’s home in Chain Lane, Blackpool.
Ms Whittlestone stated to the court that a number digital devices had been seized and some were examined on the spot. He was found to be in possession of indecent photos and evidence that he was distributing them. Extreme pornography, which involved torture and the sexual abuse of children or animals, was found.
They discussed sexual activity at the funeral home and said it was ‘horny when they f***ed on the lectern’. Robinson-Wright spoke about his addiction to crystal meth and poppers, offering to supply drugs for the man. In a separate chat, the defendant had been in touch with a paedophile and arranged to meet him to sexually abuse children. The court heard that the police intercepted the conversation before the plan was realized. He also discussed his fascination with Fred West, Jamie Bulger and other topics.
Robinson-Wright did not respond to police’s questions. He later pleaded guilty: arranging the commission a child sexual offense, three counts making indecent imagery, eight counts distributing indecent pictures, possession of a banned image of a children, possession and assistance in the commission of an offense by inviting an unknown man into the mortuary, encouraging a man sexually abuse a pet dog, and trying to supply a Class A drug.
Tom Lord, the defending, requested that 16 additional offences be considered and stated that his client’s guilty plea was his best mitigation. He stated that the defendant’s plea was a concession to what can only be described a licentious deviation and a grotesque violation of trust.
“Nigel William Robinson Wright, you have abandoned your humanity and made the choice to pursue cruelty, degradation, and depravity. It was a joy. You were powerless against all your targets – infants, children and the dead, as well as animals. You looked at images. You also gloated over the images with like-minded perverts. You revelled in iniquity instead of cherishing, protecting and respecting children, the deceased, and other people, as others do.
Robinson-Wright described himself as an animal lover and caretaker of ferrets, and claimed that those who abuse animals are ‘vile’. Robinson-Wright claimed that much of the discussion was ‘fantasy. But, the judge denied his claims.
