Gwent Police has revealed further details regarding the breed of dog which killed a boy aged 10 in Caerphilly city. jack Lis died after being attacked by the dog of an acquaintance’s home located in Pentwyn, Penyrheol, at about 4pm on the 8th of November. Inquest proceedings revealed Jack was suffering “severe head and neck injuries” neck and head” prior to being killed by police.Dog attack in Caerphilly

In the past, police believed the dog with eight stones, referred to as Beast, could be an American bulldog. The police have since modified the report, and have confirmed that the dog was an American bully, also known as XL bully. Both breeds are included on the banned list of breeds that are banned in the UK.

The Chief Superintendent Mark Hobrough said on Thursday evening: “The work to identify the breed of dog that was involved in the attack has been completed. “In the eyes of the report of the dog legislation officer the dog breed is identified as being an American or bully that is XL. “Neither one of the breeds are as part of the list of dogs that are banned and therefore is legal to own in the country.”

A woman of 28 years old from the Caerphilly area was taken into custody under suspicion of being the owner of a dog which was dangerously out of control and causing injuries which led to the death of. She was later released under bail on conditional basis.

What exactly is an American or bully XL?

It’s a relatively recent breed of dog that is relatively new in the UK it was first recognized by the United Kennel Club in America at the end of 2013 by United Kennel Club. It is believed that the breeds that contributed to the development of the American bully include American Staffordshire terriers, American pitbull terriers American bulldogs English bulldogs, the Olde English Bulldogge Staffordshire bull terriers, and that of the French bulldog.
