Supermarkets are always changing and updating their locations to keep up with consumer needs and preferences as well, which is why Tesco has been not an exception. The retailer has made a change to its self-checkout services in the coming days that will impact everyone who uses these services. Tesco has added more self-checkouts at its stores over the past few years.Today, the grocery store has announced a change in the system it uses that will be affecting all customers using self-checkout machines. The food store will ask customers to answer a query when using self-scan tills.

Alongside the standard questions, the shop will ask customers – prior to making their payment should they round their entire amount to the nearest pound in order to donate to any or three charity. The money will be utilized by Tesco to support the fundraising efforts in store in support of three of top UK health organisations. The campaign’s name is “Helping you live a healthier life”.The change is brought to all of the country, but it is only in effect until the 3rd of October.

The charities include Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation, and Diabetes UK.In addition to the funds raised, the campaign is designed to raise awareness of the necessity of living a healthier lifestyle and, in turn, assist people in reducing the risk of developing diabetic, cancer or circulatory and heart disease.

Oonagh Turnbull, director of health and wellbeing campaigns at Tesco She explained: “The funds raised will be used to improve people’s health in UK communities during this critical moment.”Our Health charity partner depend on donations to fund their education, prevention, and research.”

Michelle Mitchell, chief executive at Cancer Research UK, added: “We’d like to thank everyone who has supported the crucial efforts we’re all doing through this campaign. We’re thankful for the kindness of people who shop across the country..”Campaigns like “Helping you live a healthier life’ are a fantastic way to raise money and encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyle decisions that lead to healthier lives.”Every dollar raised is important. We won’t take any one donation as a given.”Tesco isn’t the only store to offer the charity round-up. High-street chain Wilko has implemented it for some time now.Britons have posted on social media on Monday morning to share their thoughts about the Tesco self-checkout update. Others have shared their thoughts on self-checkouts as a whole as well, with some saying they would rather use an actual till rather as opposed to a self-scan.

David Stanley wrote: “That’s me, having finished my shopping at Tesco. Some supermarkets seem to hate elderly customers with arthritis. It’s their loss. As if grocery shopping wasn’t stressful enough, the local @tesco store has no staff at checkouts. Everything is self-checkout, totally ridiculous trying to complete the weekly shopping for five people is nearly impossible. We we won’t go there again.” A customer also posted a picture of a lengthy line of people waiting for the tills in the Tesco store. They also wrote: “Hey @tesco. What are you doing to reverse your plan of transfer of responsibility? Manage the self-checkout tills in a better way and place more people on those regular machines? It was a terrible experience in your stores.”
